A coffee with Ruth Bewsey
Hi Ruth, welcome to the Lepelclub journal. We’re so happy to have you here with us! First thing’s first, can you tell us a little more about yourself?
I’m co-founder and creative director of London jewellery brand Daisy. Day to day I manage the design, production and launch of all collections, as well as the creative identity of the brand. I oversee a team of around 20 amazing people and love my job. I’m a Virgo through and through; a perfectionist, love a spreadsheet and love finding better ways to make things more efficient! I am lucky enough to have 2 small children, Willow and Zack who keep me exhausted but incredibly fulfilled and I drink way too many coffees a day.
You’ve founded your own jewellery brand, Daisy London. Can you tell us a little moreabout the brand, and its core values?
We create effortless everyday jewellery made from 100% recycled silver. We design everything here in London and want to create pieces that are missing from our jewellery box and bring them to our customers. One of our core values is to create timeless jewellery that can be worn time and time again. I want to create jewellery that makes you feel just a little more put together.
How did the inspiration Daisy London come about initially, and how do you keep inspired each day?
The main inspiration was and still is, to create jewellery with meaning, either through the designs or the story behind the collection. We talk about jewellery being our armour, making us feel more put together for the world. Dressing us up or wearing everyday. I love that jewellery can tell your story. Often one of the first things I ask people is where they got a certain piece of jewellery from, and listening to the tales behind the jewellery is so wonderful.
Here at Lepelclub, we love to relax either with a coffee or a cocktail. When you’re not working, how do you like to unwind?
If I can, then going out for meals with my family & friends - being cooked for and not having the clean up operation after is always a treat! Otherwise getting stuck in to a good series on the sofa.
Can you share the most valuable piece of advice that you've ever been given?
You will never know everything. Keep your mind open and ready to learn.
And finally, how are you planning to stir things up in the future?
I’d love to expand internationally and one day open offices in the US.
