The club behind the spoons: Myrte

myrte duk

Hi Myrte! Thanks for joining us on the Lepelclub journal. To start, could you introduce yourself?
Hi! My name is Myrte, I am 23 years old and currently live in Amsterdam. I love going out for dinner with friends and family, working out and being outdoors. Travelling is my passion and I would recommend everyone to visit Argentina, the most recent country I have visited. It is so beautiful and the people are very warm and welcoming.

Can you tell us a little more about yourself and your background?
Of course! I grew up in Amersfoort, in the same city as Jill actually, and after completing high school I went on a gap year to Cape Town. This was my first big trip all by myself and is where my passion for travelling started. After this, I moved to Amsterdam and started my Bachelor in Business Administration. I really enjoyed my time here, but after covid I could not wait to live abroad again, which is why I decided to move to Stockholm to do my Master in Digital Management. This was the best decision I could have ever made, as I met the most inspiring people and learned more than I did during my entire Bachelor. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and I moved back to Amsterdam in the beginning of this year. While I still miss the people and the beautiful nature in Sweden, having all my friends and family nearby again is something I really cherish as well.

What’s your role at Lepelclub?
To finish my Master program I have to conduct research for a company. This led me to Lepelclub, where I am now helping Jill to discover ways to expand her business and engage more with customers.

What are your goals for the future?
Last year was a year full of challenges and self-development and next year I want to reap the benefits of this. I am ready to start my first job or traineeship preferably at a company focused on digital innovation and sustainability. I am a big believer of trusting the process and when you do, the right things will come your way. This for example is also how I ended up working with Jill now. As long as I enjoy what I do and stay open for opportunities, I am sure I will eventually end up in the right places.

What are some of life’s little things that make you happy?
A talk with a stranger, a smile to my neighbor and a delicious glass of wine in the sun with my friends.

How do you drink your coffee? And if you could share a cup with anyone, who would it be?
I prefer a simple coffee, so just a cappuccino with regular milk for me. But my favorite moments are enjoying them with a friend on a sunny terrace after a workout.

What's something on your bucket list?
To be honest, I’ve already done a lot of things on my bucket list, like travelling through Centre-America, skydiving and seeing the northern lights (100% recommend all). But I would love to learn how to kitesurf.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
I can’t choose one, so I am going to give you two. Don’t let something you can’t control, control you! When you’re scared of something, don’t avoid it, but do it. That’s when you grow.
