Meet the team: Milly
Welcome to the journal, Milly! Please introduce yourself.
It's great to be here! I'm usually on the other end of the interview, haha. I guess to start off, hello!! I’m Milly. I work alongside Jill here at Lepelclub on various projects, from marketing strategy and brand communications to influencer and press relations. I'm learning so much about business development, brand strategy and running a start-up - and I'll forever be grateful to Jill for her amazing mentorship!
Can you tell us a little more about your background. Where did you grow up, and where do you currently live?
I grew up in Norwich, a small city in the East of England. I still live and love it here. We have a busy town centre (think cobbled streets, independent stores, great live music and even better food), we’re close to both the beach and the broads, and a direct train ride away from London. I stayed local for university and studied at UEA, and now work full-time in the city, so I’ve been really lucky to experience so much of my hometown in various ways.
How did you first discover Lepelclub?
I first discovered Lepelclub whilst scrolling through TikTok. I watched an unboxing of the most beautiful coup glasses; I remember it felt so fitting as I’d just been offered my first job post-graduation and thought they would be perfect for celebrating with. I placed an order and instantly fell in love with the brand. In the end, that job didn’t work out, but clearly everything happened for a reason (even if I couldn’t see it at the time) and it was through that experience I was introduced to Lepelclub and to Jill!
Our favourite question to ask here at Lepelclub... How do you drink your coffee?
Oh, with ice and vanilla syrup, always! Usually in a quiet cafe whilst working or reading. I love spending time on my own, so coffee is my main companion!
We want to get to know you a little better. What makes you happy during the day?
It's important to me to keep a positive mindset and so I try to actively focus on gratitude, which means I believe there’s some good to be found every day, even in the mundane. I love spending time with my grandparents and my friends, and I love a good conversation with a stranger. I'm equally as happy in my own company though, and I'll be content having a peaceful weekend or a walk with my headphones in. I definitely feel my best when I’m working on my goals, so learning and experiencing life with that in mind keeps me happy and motivated.
What is your wildest dream?
Call me cliché, but I love a vision board! For me, seeing my dreams and goals in front of me acts as both a motivation and a manifestation. I truly believe that if I can dream it, then I can do it. I want to experience more of the world and a big dream is to live in Europe for a while. I’d love to visit Australia too - I’ve always dreamt of learning to surf out there! A safari is also at the very top of my bucket list, but that's for the future.
Aside from big travel goals, I'm very work-driven and I daydream about building a career that is fulfilling, flexible and fun. I'm interested in brand strategy, creative communications and consumer culture. Eventually, I'd love to start my own business. I also daydream about having a home of my own; a space to make cosy and my own, and house lots of quality time with the people I love.
Thanks Milly! It's been great to talk. Keep an eye out for Milly's work here at Lepelclub.
