A coffee with Estée Lalonde
Hi Estée, welcome to the Lepelclub journal. We’re so happy to have you here with us! First things, first, can you tell us a little more about yourself?
Hi, I’m Estée, a Content Creator and Founder of wellbeing brand MIRROR WATER. Originally from Canada, I’ve spent 15 years in London, where I live with my rescue dog, Effie. Over time, I’ve built a supportive online community, sharing beauty tips, skincare, and my journey with anxiety and depression.
You’ve founded your own self-care brand, MIRROR WATER. Can you tell us more about the brand and its core values?
I’ve always said that small rituals like body care or a hot bath don’t fix everything, but they can offer moments of comfort and connection. That’s the philosophy at the heart of MIRROR WATER. My aim with the brand is to create tools and products to include in your moments of relaxation, giving yourself permission to rest.
During the tough lockdown days, bathing became my go-to comfort. Frustrated by the lack of chic, thoughtful products—free of overpowering scents and unnecessary chemicals - I decided to create my own. In 2021, I launched MIRROR WATER, a wellbeing brand rooted in intentional self-care. MIRROR WATER exists to comfort bodies, uplift minds, and inspire moments of reconnection and self-prioritisation throughout your day.
Speaking of self-care, what’s your favourite way to unwind?
I’m a bath girl through and through. I always feel better (and way more relaxed) after a long soak in the tub. My ideal self-care routine starts with taking my dog on a long walk out in nature, coming home to my comfort zone, and running a hot, deep bath with MIRROR WATER SOAK Bath Salts to ease the tension in my body. In the bath I usually read, watch my favourite reality shows on my iPad, or simply enjoy a moment of silence with my eyes closed.
How do you juggle content creation with having your own business?
I’ve been creating content for 15 years, so it really is second nature to me to share my life and the things I love with my community online! But as MIRROR WATER takes up most of my time now, I do occasionally have to turn down other opportunities as there simply isn’t enough time in the day. In all honesty, I quite like juggling lots of projects - it keeps me on my toes! I’ve really been working on my time management lately - I'm a big fan of time blocking my calendar for maximum productivity.
How would you guide someone into becoming a ‘chill-preneur’?
I have always been an ambitious person, but didn’t always know what I would do for work. I had an inner knowing that if I did the things I loved, a career would find me. Luckily that mentality did work for me.
Finding a work/life balance isn’t easy and I’m not sure it’s even possible, but I consistently check in with myself and remember that work is not everything. As much as I love my business, I try not to be too serious with things. I like to enjoy my time at work, not dread it.
And we can’t let you go without asking our favourite question here at the club - how do you take your coffee?
I hate to break it to you… but I’m actually not a coffee lover! However, I do love a good cup of Yorkshire Gold English breakfast tea - milk, no sugar. I’m also a sucker for a chai latte - always with extra cinnamon on top!
